Share a specific classroom project or moment.\r\nThe chair pockets have been an absolute game-changer in our first grade classroom! My students use them daily to keep their books, folders, and supplies organized and within reach. One special moment was during our \"Reading Buddies\" activity. The students were so excited to pull their favorite books from their chair pockets and share them with their classmates. It was heartwarming to see how responsible and proud they felt having their materials neatly stored in their very own space.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nThe moment the chair pockets were set up, the classroom was buzzing with excitement! Many students ran to their desks, eagerly placing their crayons, books, and notebooks into the pockets. A few even asked if they could take them home because they loved them so much! It was such a joy to see their faces light up — they felt special, like the classroom was truly theirs.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nRight now, we're working on a writing project called \"All About Me\" where students write and illustrate small books about themselves. The chair pockets have helped tremendously — students keep their drafts and art supplies neatly stored, so they can easily pick up where they left off. Next, we'll be turning these into little \"published\" books to share at our upcoming Family Literacy Night. The organization and independence the chair pockets have encouraged are helping my students take real ownership of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1739569711545,"projectUrl":"project/efficient-first-graders/9075668/","projectTitle":"Efficient First Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wallace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9184430_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y1008&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692031329829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9184430"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86606","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":211,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":67,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":81.1,"schoolId":86606,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Alex Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Alex Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/alex-school-district-56/alex-elementary-school/86606"}
