With your donations my students were able to accomplish many things in the classroom. Students were able to complete creative projects about subjects within both their language arts and social studies curriculums. Students were able to take notes daily with their notebooks, and keep materials for their classes organized with their folders. By using these materials, it will prepare students for high school and then life after school with a variety of different skills.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher in a low-income inner city school, I would have to purchase a majority, if not all, of these supplies on my own. Students within this school district typically do not bring their own supplies. This may either be due to financial struggles within their household, or they are just expecting the school to supply them with materials they need to succeed. In years past, the school district provided a lot of supplies for these students. Now, the school district is saving money in different areas and will not provide as much supplies to the students as they did in the past. \r\n\r\nStudents are able to complete their assignments without feeling shame or embarrassment for not having the proper supplies. Especially of those students who may not be able to afford such school supplies, or students who move around frequently, or students who are in foster care and/or group homes. I teach many different students with varying needs, and these supplies will reach each one of them. \r\n\r\nRegardless of which situation these students are coming from, they are extremely grateful of the supplies that they are able to use in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758821148483,"projectUrl":"project/to-teach-the-love-of-literature/9574675/","projectTitle":"To Teach the Love of Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lissimore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9168912_orig.jpg?crop=585,585,x0,y19&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691626898572","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9168912"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127979","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":301,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":48,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":127979,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/youngstown-city-school-district/east-middle-school/127979"}
