Students are exploring the outdoors and learning about the trees on the school grounds with the leaf printing and texture collage Math is Art project. A photo of the artwork received a response that it appeared to be professionally completed on fabric, similar to a quilt, but it is actually on construction paper. The project outcome can be compared to the artwork of Dornith Doherty. With the school connected to a local park, this is part of a series of lessons that work with our local resources and include environmental education experts from the Five Rivers MetroParks. \r\n\r\nLessons like these are transforming students' engagement with learning about the outdoors and local parks. The work created through this project will be used as a culminating STEAM night exhibition for the students, families, and community stakeholders.
