We were overwhelmed with excitement when we saw all the wonderful boxes coming into our classroom. They were a perfect addition to our fine motor station. During our farm unit, the students created barns for the farm animals to play in. It was wonderful to see \"play\" incorporated into our classroom. The students were able to use their imagination and real-life experiences in their learning! \r\n\r\nMy overall goal for my kindergarten students is to make learning enjoyable for the students by providing hands-on learning experiences. Students were excited to come to school and check on the eggs and discuss the development daily.\r\n\r\n When the eggs began to hatch the students couldn't keep their eyes off the incubator waiting for them to come out. Now that all of the chicks are out of their eggs the students are enjoying watching them continue to grow outside of the egg.\r\n\r\nThis project impacted my students in a meaningful way. We utilized the egg incubator right away for our life cycle unit! The students and I successfully hatched 8 little chicks. We kept an eye on our chicken eggs for 21 days, and the students played a huge role in remembering to manually turn our egg incubator daily! \r\nWhen the materials first arrived, we discussed in our life cycle unit about Chickens. We specifically were discussing if we did not have a mother hen, how would we hatch a chicken egg? Our incubator and Life Cycle of Chickens read-alouds were delivered to our classroom! We discussed the process of incubators and were able to refer to our read-alouds as a reference! \r\nOur next steps is to continue with our life cycle unit of chickens for years to come in Kindergarten! Some of our favorite books in our reading corner include Pete the Cat, Harold and Piggy and Clifford. Our reading area also has all our book characters the students enjoy reading too! \r\n\r\nThe look on my students faces was priceless when we received our giant package!
