Students practiced important early learning skills such as language development as they described what they saw, fine motor control while shaking, turning, and manipulating the tools, and social skills through sharing, turn-taking, and cooperative play.\r\n\r\nThe children were immediately excited and drawn to the sensory tubes. Their faces lit up with curiosity as they explored the seasonal themes inside each one. These purifiers are whisper quiet and easy to operate. Each teacher in our fourth grade team received a purifier. There are six of us who benefit from your generous donation. \r\n\r\nThe students are the real winners though. We live in a low income community where resources can often be challenging to obtain. Some students in our district also have difficulty visiting a doctor when they become ill. You should have seen students' faces when the large boxes were delivered to my classroom! They yelled \"it's Christmas\"! I told them \"yes, it is\" as we had just received a very nice donation and gifts to keep us healthy this school year.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the purifiers, our classrooms also received tissues and disinfecting wipes to keep our classrooms and noses clean. Their faces lit up when the ball cart and balls came into my classroom. The bases were also a huge help. The students love using these wipes to clean the toys after being outside. We had selected a picnic table but that was unable to be sent due to it not being in stock. The students had a great time, and learned a lot about compassion and being kind to others. \r\n\r\nWhen we got to the Alzheimer's center, the students were able to meet the patients. They gave each of them a blanket, a Teddy bear, and a coloring book. They played a balloon game with the clients, sang with them, colored with them, and most importantly, they spent time with them. \r\n\r\nEach student made new friends at the center, and have talked about their visit, and want to go back soon! The director of the center said her clients felt the same way. This gave both the students and the patients a chance to be active, and to meet new friends. \r\n\r\nWhen we got back to our classroom, the students were excited to learn that they also got a blanket and a Teddy bear! I hadn't told them about it yet, and they loved seeing them when we gave them to the patients. \r\n\r\nThis project was a wonderful way to bring two different generations together for fun and understanding. The students and patients both had a great time! This book is a mystery and students are intrigued by the different things that happen along the way and are also interested in making predictions about what they will read next.\r\n\r\nOne of the genres we have been learning is Mystery. Students have learned to understand that in a mystery, the nature of the event usually remains mysterious until the end of the story. We have not finished the book yet but are really looking forward to finding out what happens in the end!\r\n\r\nI have five classes that number 93 students in total.
