Because of you, my students now have access to the basic materials they need every single day like pencils, paper, pens, dry erase markers, pencil pouches, and ink for our classroom printer. These may seem like small items, but in our classroom, they make a huge difference.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these new resources in meaningful ways. One moment that really stood out to me was during a recent lesson on solving equations, where students worked through problems using whiteboards and dry erase markers before transferring their thinking onto paper. Having working markers and enough paper for everyone allowed all students to participate fully, show their work, and feel confident sharing their thinking without worrying about \"running out\" of supplies. The printer ink has also been a game-changer, as I've been able to print guided notes and practice sheets so students can stay organized and focused during lessons.\r\n\r\nRight now, my students are beginning a new unit focused on problem-solving with equations and real-world applications. With these resources, they are able to take better notes, complete practice independently, and participate in hands-on activities without barriers. These tools are helping create a classroom environment where students can focus on learning instead of worrying about what they don't have.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and investing in their success. Your kindness has made a lasting impact in our classroom, and I am so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1759264889792,"projectUrl":"project/from-pencils-to-paper-essentials-for-su/9607644/","projectTitle":"From Pencils to Paper: Essentials for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9580053_orig.jpg?crop=1702,1702,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719697536195","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9580053"},{"teacherId":9580053,"projectId":9439269,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! This project has increased engagement, ownership, and pride in their work. Many of them have limited access to books at home, so having more books to grow the classroom library has made a difference in the reading material available to them. In class, we've been working on how to expand our interests beyond what it is comfortable to help find books that might intrigue or tempt the imagination. We discuss their interests and look through the library to find ones that might appeal to them. They look forward to finding new books. We've also been practicing how to find the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary words using context clues. It's been a tricky skill, but several of them are slowly beginning to understand how to do it. \r\n\r\nEvery students gets around an hour of independent reading time in my class each week. We read in our reading groups, and they are allowed to find a comfy spot in the room to settle down and read for 30 minutes each day. They are also allowed to read if they finish their work early or after they complete their morning work before morning meeting. They're currently practicing how to read silently as many of them have difficulty with that skill. I have a lot of students who are enjoying Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, and Dog Man. One of my students is currently reading Matilda, and I catch her reading more than anyone else. She was even reading it one day during bus dismissal because she was loving it that much. We're using the book to currently track her comprehension by discussing what problems the main character is facing and how she's solving them. These books have really changed many of my students' lives by growing their interests in books and providing them the opportunity to read at home.","fullyFundedDate":1754146962534,"projectUrl":"project/a-magical-library/9452358/","projectTitle":"A Magical Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stately","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10073531_orig.jpg?crop=551,551,x2042,y860&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760320635229","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10073531"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68668","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":658,"numTeachers":10,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":46,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"65.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":66.5,"schoolId":68668,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dayton Liberty Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dayton Liberty Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/ohio-department-of-education/dayton-leadership-academy-liberty-campus/68668"}
