For example, when we read \"In the Hall of the Mountain King\", the kids didn't just learn about the story, we learned musical terms like accelerando through the story. As the story speeds up, the students were about to visualize gradually getting faster and faster. Then we used the book to act out the accelerando until the whole room was buzzing with energy. My Kindergarteners got to experience \"The Carnival of the Animals\". The students got to step into the world of Saint-Saëns and express themselves through interpretive dances for each animal. These texts are helping them learn that music isn't just a sound; it's a way to tell a story and share a feeling.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, \"reading\" is anything but quiet! It's loud, active, and super hands-on. We use these books as a starting point to jump into the music, pairing the pages with the actual songs so the kids can see and hear the connections. The Hal Leonard Essential Elements subscription has been the biggest hit so far. My students are honestly obsessed with \"The Music Show\". They've enjoyed all the interactive lessons, and the fresh new songs. Because they've been so engaged with this new curriculum, they've built up the skills and the confidence to start working on our very first musical! The musical options in the subscription has been a game changer for me, keeping it simple and fun for all.
