What this project has done for my children is truly amazing. Not only did it connect our children together, but it also connected our parents/families. With the birdhouses the parents volunteered to come in and help put all the birdhouses together on top of making bird feeders. That children were so excited to be able bring them home and see what birds they bring in. Some of our families shared the feedback from how their children would sit at home and bird watch. The children are always watching now outside to see what birds they see or they will come in the next school day and talk about what birds they saw while at home. The plush birds that we got children use those in more than one way, whether it be for come comfort to using them in play or to puppet talk to one another. The gears it has been so cool to watch them problem solve when they see not all the gears are moving and need to figure out how to connect to make them all move. They were so excited and eager to explore all the new materials. All these new experiences and findings wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for all the great donors that help bring this project to life! Myself, my coworker, and children are greatly appreciative and can't wait to see where their minds will travel next. One unforgettable moment came when the children gathered around the butterfly pavilion for the first time. They stood quietly, eyes wide, gently pointing and whispering as they watched the caterpillars move in their habitat. The children asked thoughtful questions, shared their observations with friends, and showed care and patience as they observed the living creatures up close. At the sensory table, they scooped, poured, and compared materials, while the magnetic tiles and cornhole set encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and early engineering through play.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate and joyful. They ran to explore, invited friends to join them, and proudly showcased their creations to teachers and classmates. The outdoor wooden table and bench quickly became a special gathering place where the children sat together, built side by side, and discussed what they were making. For some students, this space has helped them feel calmer, more confident, and more willing to try new things.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue to build on these experiences by observing the caterpillars over time, exploring movement and force through balls and games, and taking on simple building challenges with magnetic tiles. These outdoor lessons help children learn to ask questions, collaborate, and believe in their own ideas. Thanks to this project, learning feels joyful, safe, and full of wonder, exactly how it should be for our youngest learners.","fullyFundedDate":1778182800392,"projectUrl":"project/butterflies-building-and-big-discoveri/10193779/","projectTitle":"Butterflies, Building, and Big Discoveries: Outdoor STEM Adventures!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bilal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9517362_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714555096770","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-nichols8"},{"teacherId":8629703,"projectId":9845616,"letterContent":"Thanks to donors like you, we now have a proper writing center!
