Students quickly go from being a little grossed out to totally engrossed in their discoveries! It's hard to keep up with all of the things they want to share. This day would not be possible without the donations and support towards this project.\r\nTo help bring food webs to life, students get to spend a class period dissecting an owl pellet. The new forceps help them to get the smallest bones or clean out the large finds. The students are full of excitement about what they are discovering. As they are finding bones they are also sorting them to see, to the best of their ability, what animals this owl ate. \r\nA few videos, a read aloud, and a short reading passage helped build their background knowledge to help them better understand what an owl pellet is and characteristics of owls. We are still working through the novel in class, but students are enjoying the material and connecting with the story. \r\nLast year, I used the novel, however, I didn't have a copy for each student to read. Having a class set of the novels is a game changer for several reasons.
