This project has been used three separate times in my classroom this year and I still have enough supplies to do it several more!\r\n Math is a subject that does not give many chances to use hands on activities in the sixth grade. Students get bored with constant fractions, multiplication, and division assignments every day. My students are on many different levels. Over half of the class speak other languages. Origami is a way for all of the students to be more on the same level of learning. I gave different examples of origami for them all to try. Once they were finished, the students were able to decorate their origami and try another choice.\r\n This project let the students talk and laugh freely amongst themselves over their masterpieces and mistakes. Some students helped other students and they were able to change their mistakes around. We've been using the markers and crayons to color in our \"get to know me\" projects and name tags. The stools are already a hot commodity for flexible seating and a great treat for the kids. We've used the clipboard side of our clipboard/whiteboard combo and I have plans to use the whiteboard side next week! The disinfecting wipes have already been used several times as you can imagine, including when a student sneezed all over their desk without covering their face, of course!
