Around my kidney table, students now have flexible seating that helps them stay engaged while brainstorming, drafting, and revising their work. One of my favorite moments was watching a reluctant writer excitedly wiggle in his seat while confidently sharing his story ideas with his peers. The movement helped him focus, and he was more engaged than ever before!\r\n\r\nThe tall high-back chair has created a special space for one-on-one conferencing. Students know that when they sit in that chair at my desk, they're getting focused attention on their writing, reading, or personal academic goals. It's become a place of encouragement, where students feel comfortable discussing their progress and areas they want to improve.\r\n\r\nThe chair on wheels has been incredibly useful in the math room where I co-teach. It allows me to move quickly between groups, providing support where needed and making the learning environment feel more fluid and dynamic.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe student's excitement was priceless! When the wobble chairs arrived, students eagerly tested them out, giggling as they balanced and swayed. They quickly realized how much fun it was, but also how helpful it could be for staying focused. One student even said, \"I wish we had these at every table!\"\r\n\r\nThe tall high-back chair became an instant favorite for conferencing. Some students called it the \"VIP chair\" because they saw it as a place where their voices and ideas were truly heard.\r\n\r\nIn the math room, my co-taught students loved seeing me move more easily between groups. One student joked, \"Now you can help us even faster!\"\r\n\r\nIn writing, we're using our wobble chairs to dive into the revision process. Now that students are comfortable drafting, they're working in pairs to give peer feedback, and the flexible seating makes it easy for them to collaborate.\r\n\r\nFor individual conferencing, I'll continue using the high-back chair to provide personalized feedback on writing goals, reading comprehension strategies, and math concepts. This space has helped students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and asking for help, which is a huge step in their learning journey.\r\n\r\nIn the math room, we're starting a hands-on fractions unit, and my ability to move seamlessly between student groups (thanks to the rolling chair!) will help ensure that every student gets the support they need.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough for making this possible! Your generosity has truly transformed our classroom, creating a more engaging, student-centered learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1740284354497,"projectUrl":"project/adaptive-seating-solutions-for-my-studen/8954287/","projectTitle":"Adaptive Seating Solutions for My Students With Special Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stafford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8048623_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634830463045","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8048623"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85931","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":663,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"20.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.5,"schoolId":85931,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hubbard Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hubbard Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/hubbard-exempted-village-school-district/roosevelt-elementary-school/85931"}
