With your contribution, we were able to purchase car tracks, sensory tubes, and magnetic cubes for both of our elementary buildings. Students have already been using these materials and enjoying them.\r\nThe students were so excited to see packages arriving to our classroom. They waited eagerly while I opened them and were surprised at the contents. The immediately went and got racing cars to send down the tracks. By attaching the tracks to the windows, they were able to create race tracks for their cars. They use stop watches to time their runs and kept track of their times on the whiteboard. When done, they created a graph to show the spread of the data. As you can see, this was a great way to incorporate math into our classroom. \r\nThe sensory tubes have been useful in the self contained classes. These students sometimes feel overwhelmed and the enjoy watching the colored oil float inside the tubes. It provides a safe way for them to regulate and feel calm, thus allowing them to return to the lesson more quickly. \r\nThe magnet cubes have also been a hit. Students have been practicing following directions to create different 3D animals and shapes.
