Our students were thrilled. Many of them crowded around the boxes, excitedly pointing out items and asking if they could help stock the shelves. One student said, \"This is like a real store!\" — and that's exactly the kind of ownership and pride we hoped to inspire.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the school store as part of a behavioral and social-emotional learning initiative. Students earn points for positive behaviors, effort, kindness, and academic progress. They then use those points to \"purchase\" items, giving them a tangible reward for their growth. It has not only boosted motivation but has created a sense of community and fairness.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment came when a student who has struggled all year earned enough points to buy something small but meaningful. The joy and pride on their face reminded all of us why this store matters.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our school store is more than just rewards — it's a space of learning, pride, and joy. We are so grateful for your partnership in making that happen.","fullyFundedDate":1729178317152,"projectUrl":"project/elementary-school-store/8829714/","projectTitle":"Elementary School Store","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCoy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9480023"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84008","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":202,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":81,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":84008,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fairwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fairwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/columbus-city-school-district/fairwood-alternative-elementary-school/84008"}
