I am deeply grateful for your donation, which allowed me to purchase the English for Everyone instructional series for my multilingual learners in grades 9–12. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to structured, visually supported lessons that strengthen reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.\r\n\r\nOur ESL students come from diverse linguistic backgrounds and often face gaps in literacy and academic vocabulary. Some students have limited or no prior formal schooling. And these resources help remove barriers by offering scaffolded instruction grounded in strong visual supports, which are especially beneficial for students whose learning strengths include visual intelligence. This approach allows students to access content and develop language skills even when word-based instruction alone is challenging.\r\n\r\nYour kindness and investment in the academic progress of at‑risk students are making a meaningful difference. The impact of your support is felt daily in our classroom as students gain confidence, engage more fully in their learning, and make significant progress in English language development.\r\n\r\nThank you for making a lasting difference in their academic journeys.","fullyFundedDate":1771989754863,"projectUrl":"project/breaking-barriers-giving-english-learne/10087437/","projectTitle":"Breaking Barriers: Giving English Learners the Power to Succeed","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. A. It is such a gift to be able to say \"yes\" when my students need something. The snacks have been the most asked for item when students miss breakfast at school. The students always say thank you and I am happy that they aren't hungry in class. \r\n\r\nAfter receiving the materials, I sent out an email to the students explaining that I received some supplies from the generosity of others and listed what I had available. In the following months, I have had a handful of boys come to me during my planning period to ask for deodorant. Recently, when I handed it to one boy who came to ask, he asked me \"does it cost anything?\" I simply told him no and I was so grateful to be able to say that! \r\n\r\nI am very grateful to the donors of this project for understanding that it truly is the seemingly simple things that make a difference. One box of 60 granola bars meant that I got to say yes 60 times when asked if I have snacks. We focused on several key skills throughout the unit, including determining the meanings of challenging words and figurative language, analyzing the impact of literary devices, and citing strong textual evidence to support their ideas during class discussions and written responses.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, joyful experience. Students took on character roles and read the play aloud each day, bringing the world of Verona to life. They loved choosing parts, experimenting with expression, and truly getting into character. Their enthusiasm was contagious—students arrived eager to participate and excited to continue the story.\r\n\r\nBecause they were so engaged, their comprehension and confidence grew tremendously. Students who were hesitant readers at the start of the unit became eager to analyze scenes, debate character motivations, and make connections to their own lives.\r\n\r\nThis project made all of that possible. Thank you for giving my students the chance to experience Shakespeare in a way that felt accessible, meaningful, and fun. Your support had a direct impact on both their learning and their love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1765480272762,"projectUrl":"project/every-mind-deserves-macbeth-supporting/9629693/","projectTitle":"Every Mind Deserves Macbeth: Supporting Literacy in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cooney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3959006_orig.jpg?crop=197,197,x148,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755692529682","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3959006"},{"teacherId":8685175,"projectId":9241559,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations towards these Manga books for my students! They have been an absolute hit in the classroom! \r\n\r\nDeveloping strong reading habits starts with finding interest in reading itself; and with the constant entertainments of smart phones available we are seeing reading interest plummit. This ultimately leads to lower reading comprehension abilitites, diminished vocabularly and more. \r\n\r\nHowever, research, and my own personal experience, has shown once a child starts reading for fun, they develop strong reading habits and start to counter act all of those things described above! \r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students have found excitement in reading as they see their favorite anime shows in novel form with these manga!
