One of the reasons I wanted to do this project is to help increase family engagement at our Remote K-8 school. There are not many opportunities for parents and families to engage away from their laptops and we are working diligently to find ways to increase these opportunitites.\r\nDue to the fact that we are a remote school, choosen by families, our students do not receive school lunch daily. My thought was that providing bags of snacks would 1) get parents into the building for engagement opportunities and 2) provide extra healthy snacks for students learning at home, who's parents may need a little help with food and snacks for their students.\r\nThanks to your generosity, I have been able to pack 40 individual snack bags for our students. I was also able to offer snacks to a Muslim student that would not interfere with any dietary restrictions! These books are supporting our Gingerbread making unit. Families came in to create and build houses made from Gingerbread. The students then were able to bring a book home to add to their library and remember the experience.\r\n\r\nThe molding clay and play dough will allow the students to explore fossils. One activity will be to create a cast and mold fossil.
