The scissors were just used in a science lab activity that involved cutting lots and lots of straws so the students could study enzymes. I was able to give my students their own valve oil, cleaning swabs, cork grease, and more. Because of this, I am able to better instruct my students on how to care for their instruments. This in turn has started the process of keeping instruments out of the shop and prolonging the life expectancies of their working parts. It is so much easier to teach students how to care for their instrument when everyone has what they need, and the equity this brings to the table is priceless.
