Our reading warm up consists of a word of a day, in which we identify part of speech and the definition. The students are using the dictionaries to find the definitions and then after they find it, they are required to use it in a sentence. The goal of this project is to help build the students vocabulary.\r\n\r\nMost of my students were surprised when they saw the dictionary as most have only ever used the online version of a dictionary. They think they are small, and some think they are cute. We are excited to use them and I hope they can really help grow their vocabulary.\r\n\r\nI plan to use these dictionaries for other projects in my classroom as well. Some are using the resources wisely, but some of the students are having to learn to use them properly. I have noticed that the calming/anxiety strips are liked by most of the students, which is perfectly fine with me. I will definitely be ordering more of them, and I am hoping I can find other textures as well. My students are using the desk bands when they struggle to stay still, which I have multiple of those students this year. I don't have enough wobbly chairs, so this has been a good substitution. My students are using the cushions on the ground when they work around the room, making it a comfy little spot for them.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited for our products. I told them about the donations and they thought it was very cool that this happened to us.\r\n\r\nI am working on helping the students who struggle to stay focused right now. Helping them focus is a huge goal of mine, as I believe that is why they are struggling academically. They are able to earn as many as they can each day. This has really encouraged hard work and great behavior. \r\n\r\nThey were excited to see all of the fun incentive items! The girls loved the slime and mochis, the boys loved the skateboards, and they all loved the play-doh! I am so thankful that these were donated to us, it means so much to us. \r\n\r\nMy next step is to keep encouraging good behavior and hard work, throughout the entire year. The drawing pads are going to be an entire class goal to earn them. We will choose what we work on, how it will be earned, and then they will be told of the prize. The students had to reach their goals that they chose on a bingo board. All students reached the bingo goals and received the prizes. Some goals they had to reach were scoring higher on two spring tests, all students say thank you at lunch, all students desk clean at one time, and other assortment of goals. They have had so much excitement as well as frustration with this board, but it has helped them learn to work together.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited for the materials. They had insisted we use the chalk right away, which we did allow that. I decorated their water bottles with their name, which had them filled with excitement. The snacks were an absolute hit, we used them during times of getting a single bingo. I hope they can use the items for the entire summer and that they can appreciate the donations as much as I have. Awarding students is so much fun, but it also gets expensive. \r\n\r\nI have another project for them to be on their best behavior to earn a sip sip hooray drink party. They are almost close to earning it, and they have until next Friday. The time is ticking, but they are having fun. I am also sending home snacks with some students on the weekends. My students are really excited for this. They said we received the best snacks, so that was great!\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on how to budget money and shop. I feel this will help them with the current situations that I requested the snacks for. Being in a poverty area, I feel that this is the best lesson that I can teach. I have them learn how to spend their money and they have to shop and budget on paper, with certains item that they need and some wants. They really enjoy this lesson, and I truly believe it's a great life lesson. My students were concerned with not receiving the food they needed last month due to I am sure listening to their parents, so I am happy that I can try to teach them this lesson at a young age. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for doing this for my classroom. A lot of my students are so excited for these small little treats. My students have to earn these treats by winning games, good behavior, and 100s on assignments. We use them for multiple other things throughout each day. We have already went through a bag of the candy!\r\nMy students were excited to see my filling our candy drawers. They hoped they could earn a treat so they could search through the drawers and see what is inside. My students mention their favorites of the candy each day that they pick a treat, so I know they are loving this!\r\nMy next steps are to encourage students to continue this behavior and hard work always! I will always give them treats, because I know they love treats but I do want them to find some inner motivation for this year as well. Thank you for the treats that my students received. They are loving the new squishies, fidgets, and drawing boards. We use them for rewards when receiving 100's on tests, winning educational games, or shopping in the classroom store for great behavior.\r\nMy students were so excited when I was opening the prizes. They couldn't help but try to look what was inside, so we opened them together and looked what was in them all. I explained at that time what they had to do to get the prizes. We are down to our last fidget person and they are all going to try to get receive it as a prizes.\r\nI am working on them to find inner motivation, as well as getting prizes. However, I love to see the excitement from their prizes, so I am not sure I will ever stop.
