Your support has helped transform our school library into more vibrant and engaging environment. With these materials, our students now have access to a wider range of stories, voices, and perspectives that inspire curiosity and foster a love for reading. For many, opening a brand-new book is a rare experience, and the excitement and joy have been wonderful to witness on my students' faces.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation reaches beyond reading skills. These books are sparking meaningful discussions, fueling creativity, and helping students connect what they learn in school to the bigger, wider world at large. I have seen students eagerly trading recommendations with one another, diving into topics that merit discussion, and developing a stronger sense of confidence as readers and young people. Your generosity is not just providing books; it is creating opportunities, nurturing imaginations, and laying the foundation for lifelong readers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your thoughtful contribution. In the time since we received this hardware, we have really put them to good use! \r\nOur students have made:\r\n- 16 games\r\n- 185 models\r\n- over 350 digital designs\r\n- 120 portfolios\r\n- countless memories.\r\n\r\nIn addition, these supported the largest on-site high school game development competition in North Carolina! Students and senior developers from major studios partnered together to develop games for three whole days and met with dozens of local business partners to explore futures in development and design.\r\n\r\nAll that was within in the first SIX MONTHS of receiving the hardware. The future of these students is so bright, I have to wear shades. \r\nY'all. YOU DID THAT!\r\n\r\nExtra special thanks to our amazing supporters at the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Perhaps the most fun for them (and me!) was when I announced I'd be building them along with my kids, and they would grade my work! You don't know what a humbling feeling it is to have a 10th grader point out all the areas where you could've wired your breadboard better, and how I was using too many wires to begin with! \r\n\r\nTogether with reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, 30 Days Lost in Space brought Physics to life for my students in a way that traditional classroom curriculum couldn't. Plus, I got the added joy pf seeing my students faces light up with their tiny OLED screen gave them their first message.
