Having a class set of novels is such a meaningful gift because it allows every student to hold a book in their hands, become part of the story, and experience the excitement of reading a novel together as a class.\r\n\r\nA typical day of reading in my classroom with my students starts with reviewing the section of the book we read the day before and then moving on to reading the next section of the book aloud. Students follow along as the novel is being read. We stop several times throughout our daily readings to discuss, clarify, and ask questions. When we have completed the day's reading and our class discussions, students then complete independent activities based on the novel.\r\n\r\nMy students are learning that books can do so much more than tell a story. We are exploring themes of loyalty, compassion, friendship, responsibility, and perseverance. My students are seeing characters face difficult situations and making challenging choices. \r\n\r\nWhat makes this donation especially meaningful to me is that it gives my students an opportunity to experience the joy of getting lost in a good book. For some students, reading a full novel can feel overwhelming. Having their own copy and being able to read, discuss, question, and experience the story together helps make reading feel accessible and exciting. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful that you chose to invest in my classroom and my students.
