The students are so happy and excited to learn about plants and how to take care of them. Through this project, they are also learning how to take care of themselves, because they see how plants reflect people — when plants receive care, water, and attention, they grow strong, just like we do.\r\n\r\nEvery day, a different grade level visits the garden to water the plants, observe changes, and talk about what is different from the last visit. Students love sharing their observations and reflecting on how growth in the garden connects to their own growth and feelings. Your generous donations and materials are helping our students learn responsibility, patience, teamwork, and care for the world around them. Thank you for making this meaningful learning experience possible for our kids.","fullyFundedDate":1768415111179,"projectUrl":"project/hands-in-the-soil-hearts-in-the-garden/9905140/","projectTitle":"Hands in the Soil, Hearts in the Garden","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amzil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10354110_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764713964781","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10354110"},{"teacherId":10357491,"projectId":9909815,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our students are not only enjoying new books, they are also growing as readers in meaningful ways! Reading in our library means confidence building, one page at a time. The new texts you provided support readers at every stage of development, and all of the new titles are already being borrowed from the library!\r\n\r\nOur developing readers are thriving with the Pigeon books. The repetition and dialogue help students practice fluency and develop comprehension skills. These books allow emerging readers to be successful when they can read the whole book all by themselves.\r\n\r\nOur reluctant readers are being drawn in by high-interest books. Graphic novels like The Baby-Sitters Club strengthen comprehension while making reading feel accessible and fun. Fast-paced adventures like the Percy Jackson series captivate students who might otherwise struggle to stay engaged, helping them build stamina and excitement for longer texts.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions has been Harry Potter in both English and Spanish. In our school, many students primarily speak Spanish at home. Having these stories available in both languages ensures that all students can grow as readers. It builds literacy, strengthens vocabulary in both languages, and allows students to share stories with family members. Seeing a child light up when they discover a favorite book in their home language is something truly special.\r\n\r\nThese books are more than replacements for worn copies. They are tools for teaching fluency, comprehension, and the joy of reading. They are helping students take risks, try new genres, and discover that reading can be an adventure for them. Thank you for investing in our readers.","fullyFundedDate":1768956049788,"projectUrl":"project/new-copies-of-old-favorite-books/9909815/","projectTitle":"New Copies of Old Favorite Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Franklin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10357491_orig.jpg?crop=1500,1500,x320,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764095923635","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10357491"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1885","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":614,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":72.0,"schoolId":1885,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Reedy Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Reedy Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/reedy-creek-elementary-school/1885"}
