They were so excited to help get the kit set up. We were able to form smaller groups for our First Lego Explore project this quarter because of the additional kit. Students were able to utilize the kit to complete various assignments surrounding this year's theme, archeology. Students worked within their group to design a vehicle that could be used at a dig site, and as they learned about different occupations at excavation sites, they designed and built tools that those people could use. I will be utilizing this kit along with the others that I already have for my next elective where students will be working in small groups to complete a series of builds that are science related. My students were thrilled to hear the news that our project for xylophones was fully funded! When the materials arrived, I let them (carefully) open the boxes and that was so exciting for them put their hands on an actual gift, not just something we've talked about. After the boxes were opened, we had to play of course! It was exciting for them to be the very first students to play these instruments!\r\n\r\nMy older students (Grades 4-5) have learned several new pieces of music in our percussion ensemble. They are better musicians because of the way they can immediately play barred instruments without years of lessons or practice. With minimal guidance, they feel immediate success and love hearing the result of their playing all together. For the younger students, they just can't believe it's \"instrument day\" in the music room and just love trying new things. This makes a happy teacher too as any behavior issues become non-existent on instrument days because no one wants to lose out on the chance to play the xylophones!\r\n\r\nI am filled with gratitude for your donation and investment in my students.
