These resources were used throughout a hands-on STEM unit where students explored circuits, conductivity, and creative engineering through interactive design projects. 5th Graders incorporated it into an ecosystem unit and 4th Grade into their North Carolina History.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the Makey Makey materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to test how everyday objects could complete a circuit, and there were many \"I didn't know that would work!\" moments as they experimented with items like playdough, foil, pencils, and classroom materials. The classroom quickly became a space of curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration. Every time they saw me in the hallway they asked when I would be in their class next to continue working with the Makey Makey kits.\r\n\r\nStudents worked to design and build their own interactive projects. They planned, tested, and revised their ideas as they learned how to troubleshoot circuits and make their designs work. \r\n\r\nAs a culminating experience, students presented their final Makey Makey creations to their peers and parents. They explained how their circuits functioned, shared challenges they overcame, and demonstrated how they adapted their thinking throughout the process. These presentations built confidence and deepened their understanding of engineering and the design process.\r\n\r\nWe are truly thankful for your support in making this experience possible. These kits helped transform learning into something interactive, creative, and meaningful for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1763683873752,"projectUrl":"project/bright-ideas-big-creations-with-makey-m/9862865/","projectTitle":"Bright Ideas, Big Creations with Makey Makey","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ziada Brandt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2235230"},{"teacherId":6993484,"projectId":8930345,"letterContent":"The LEGO SPIKE kits helped my students connect literacy and STEM in hands-on, meaningful ways. These kits made abstract STEM ideas tangible and engaging, giving students a deeper understanding of both language and engineering.
