We started by using the boards to brainstorm our schoolwide expectations and discuss what those expectations look and sound like in our classroom. This gave me an opportunity to teach students how to use the boards responsibly, collaborate with their teammates, and interact respectfully with one another.\r\n\r\nSince then, we have incorporated the boards into both math and literacy instruction. In math, I have watched some of my quieter students become more confident as they take the marker, share their thinking, and take academic risks. I have also seen students naturally support and gently guide one another through challenging problems. The boards have created more opportunities for students to explain their thinking, learn from their peers, and see that making mistakes is part of the learning process.\r\n\r\nThe academic results have been encouraging as well. Student achievement on our pre- and post-assessments has shown an average increase of 30%. The boards also provide opportunities for movement throughout the lesson, keeping students engaged and on their toes—both literally and mentally!\r\n\r\nWe are off to a great start, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to bring this type of active, collaborative learning into our classroom. It has been especially helpful in creating a space where students can step away, regulate, and return to learning when they are ready.\r\n\r\nCompleting our Ninja Life Hacks collection also means we now have stories covering a wide variety of skills and situations, giving us resources we can return to throughout the school year. It has also made transitions more predictable for students who have difficulty when activities change. The sensory letter tracing pad gives my younger learners another way to practice letters through touch and movement, which is especially helpful when pencil-and-paper practice is challenging.\r\n\r\nThe Life Savers and Skittles have become simple but effective motivators. They are used in small amounts to recognize effort, task completion, positive choices, and progress toward individual goals. Sometimes knowing that there is a small reward at the end is just the encouragement a student needs to finish something that feels difficult.\r\n\r\nEven the practical supplies have been put to work. We use the hand sanitizer throughout the day, the thermometer allows us to quickly check a student who says they are not feeling well, and the envelopes help me send materials and important information home.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping provide the everyday things that make our classroom work a little better. Not every triumph in special education is a big one. Sometimes it is completing one more problem, transitioning without becoming upset, writing a letter independently, or simply trying again. We were given a printer, but without toner, we could not actually use it. Thanks to this project, that printer is now something we use regularly to support our students.\r\n\r\nWe have been able to print signs, visual reminders, directions, and other materials that we can place around the classroom and school. For many of our students, seeing something is much easier than trying to remember something they have only heard. A simple picture, sign, or visual reminder can help them remember what comes next, follow a routine, or complete a task with less adult prompting.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I appreciate most is being able to create a visual when I realize a student needs one. I don't have to wait or make do with what we already have. I can create it, print it, and start using it with the student right away.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us turn a printer that was sitting unused into something that has become part of our everyday work with students. One of my favorite moments was watching students work together during a math game. They were solving problems, helping each other, and celebrating when someone got an answer correct. They were practicing important math skills without feeling like they were doing more \"work.\" The games have also given some of my students who struggle with math a chance to practice in a more relaxed and engaging way.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating the games into our lessons as students learn new skills throughout the year. We will use them to review previously learned concepts, practice current skills, and build confidence and independence. Students loved choosing their colors and figuring out the perfect amount of air. Getting a wobble cushion has quickly become part of our routine at reading group. The Wiggle Wobble Chair feet have also created a favorite chair at our learning table, providing just enough movement to keep students focused without distracting others.\r\n\r\nThe Classroom Chair Bands give students an easy, discreet way to move their feet while working. They also love knowing exactly where to line up with the Carpet Markers—there's never a question about where to be!\r\n\r\nOur sensory playroom is definitely feeling the love through your donations. The Kids Basketball Hoop and Sensory Tent are used multiple times throughout the day and have been wonderful tools for building communication skills. The Noise Cancelling Headphones are also used daily when students need to block out distractions and refocus. Of course, everyone already has a favorite color!\r\n\r\nThe Stickers have been an awesome way to motivate and reward students in the regular education classroom and in small groups. They are working hard for the chance to choose a favorite sticker for their water bottle or laptop case.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is giving my students tools to self-regulate their energy, focus on their work, and participate more fully in group discussions and conversations. Having a tool that is easier to control has given them more confidence and independence during computer-based activities.\r\nSometimes the smallest classroom tools make the biggest difference.
