My students were so excited to see the new supplies, especially the markers and other materials that we can use for creative, hands-on activities. The quality scissors, stapler, markers, and hot glue gun are giving us the tools to move beyond worksheets and create projects that allow students to interact with history in a more meaningful way. Students know that these items are available when they need them, without embarrassment or judgment. Sometimes something as simple as having a snack when you are hungry or access to a basic hygiene item can completely change a student's ability to concentrate and feel comfortable at school. I want my classroom to be a place where students know they are cared for as people first and students second.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will be using these supplies for interactive history projects, posters, presentations, and other activities that allow students to be creative while demonstrating what they have learned. More than anything, your generosity has helped me show my students something I want them to remember long after they leave my classroom: **they are worth investing in, and they deserve to have what they need to be successful.** Thank you for helping me give them that message every day. ❤️","fullyFundedDate":1787585395220,"projectUrl":"project/more-than-pencils-caring-for-the-whole/10462334/","projectTitle":"More Than Pencils: Caring for the Whole Student","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Casianos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10584211"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3436","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":474,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":53.2,"schoolId":3436,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakewood High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakewood High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/sampson-county-school-district/lakewood-high-school/3436"}
