The book sets have been especially effective during targeted small‑group lessons, where students use them to practice reading strategies, build confidence, and engage more deeply with texts. The HiLo articles have further supported differentiated instruction by providing high‑interest, accessible materials that meet students at their current reading levels.\r\n\r\nWhen students first received the materials, they were genuinely enthusiastic. Many expressed excitement at having engaging, age‑appropriate texts written in a format that felt approachable and empowering. At my previous school, these resources contributed to remarkable academic gains; students demonstrated exceeding growth on state testing, reflected in a 7.7 growth index.\r\n\r\nAs I transition into a new school and district, the next steps for my students involve improving the physical learning environment. The district is significantly underfunded, and the classroom furniture is outdated and inadequate. Many students do not comfortably fit into the small, decades‑old desks currently available. Because they frequently annotate texts and maintain interactive notebooks, they need larger, more functional workspaces. I will soon begin a new project to secure classroom tables that will better support their academic needs, comfort, and continued growth.","fullyFundedDate":1729893575164,"projectUrl":"project/fostering-a-love-of-reading-for-struggli/8852608/","projectTitle":"Fostering a Love of Reading for Struggling High School Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rawls","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9788994"},{"teacherId":3406721,"projectId":10489179,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom!
