I'm so excited to share what's been happening in our classroom since your donation arrived.\r\nI know many of you are book lovers like us, so I wanted to tell you about all the amazing things students are learning through this character analysis project. The Princess Bride has been such a gift for teaching literary analysis! Students are diving deep into how William Goldman creates characters who feel real and change throughout the story. They're catching onto his clever use of satire and irony, and they love discussing his playful narrative style with the whole \"abridged version\" concept. The best part? They're becoming detectives with the text, hunting down evidence to support their ideas about why characters make certain choices and how relationships evolve. The poster component lets them blend their analytical thinking with creativity, and we've had some fantastic conversations about the big themes—true love, revenge, loyalty, and what makes a great story. It's been wonderful watching them connect these ideas to their own lives.\r\nOur reading setup has been working beautifully! We listen to the audiobook together as a class, which creates this shared experience where everyone laughs at the same jokes and gasps at the same moments. The narrator really brings Goldman's wit to life! For students who want to read ahead or prefer their own pace, we have headphones available so they can listen independently. It's the best of both worlds—everyone gets to engage with the story in whatever way works for them.\r\nAnd here's where I get really excited—the impact has gone way beyond what I expected! Several students discovered they have serious artistic talent while working on their character posters. They've been so proud of what they've created! Even better, a bunch of students have caught the reading bug and keep asking me for more books like this one. They're making trips to the library and genuinely excited about reading. But my favorite surprise? One student loved The Princess Bride so much that they started a film club to watch and discuss movies like this with their classmates. How cool is that?\r\nYour generosity made all of this possible, and I can't thank you enough. You've helped spark creativity, build confidence, and foster a real love of stories in these kids.","fullyFundedDate":1746787246799,"projectUrl":"project/true-love-and-high-adventure-exploring/9292446/","projectTitle":"True Love and High Adventure: Exploring 'The Princess Bride'","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boccia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9990734_orig.jpg?crop=827,827,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743708021070","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9990734"},{"teacherId":9990734,"projectId":9228271,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for funding our *A Raisin in the Sun* project! Now they get to really dive into it with real books in their hands, listening to the music that captures the feeling of the story, and creating their own art projects to show what it means to them.\r\n\r\nHaving physical classroom copies is a game-changer—no more struggling with online PDFs or sharing devices. The speaker lets us fill the room with music from the time period and really feel the mood of the play. And those markers and drawing paper? Your support has not only helped prepare us practically for this important work, but has also inspired us by showing the real impact of community generosity.\r\n\r\nFor many of us, this trip represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to serve others while gaining real-world medical experience. As students pursuing careers in healthcare, we are excited and humbled to participate in this mission. Having the appropriate attire—professional, clean, and functional—is critical to our ability to contribute meaningfully in clinical environments. Your thoughtful gift ensures that we will feel confident and unified as we represent our school, our program, and our country.\r\n\r\nThe scrubs you provided are more than just clothing. When we received them, we felt a surge of excitement and pride. Putting them on made the trip feel even more real. They symbolize the trust and encouragement that supporters like you have in us and the work we're going to do. Wearing these scrubs, we will walk into clinics and communities with the mindset that we are not alone—your generosity is coming with us.\r\n\r\nIn Belize, we will be assisting local healthcare providers with basic medical tasks, organizing supplies, and offering compassionate care to those in need. It will be challenging work at times, but the knowledge that people like you are cheering us on makes a big difference. Your gift has eased one of our logistical concerns, allowing us to focus more fully on preparing ourselves emotionally, academically, and physically for the journey ahead.\r\n\r\nMany students on this trip are funding their own travel and taking on this challenge because they are deeply committed to helping others. Your donation of scrubs means that every student, regardless of financial background, can participate fully and professionally. That inclusion matters tremendously and reflects the very values we hope to bring to the communities we'll serve—care, dignity, and equity.\r\n\r\nWe promise to wear the scrubs you've provided with pride, respect, and gratitude. They'll be with us in villages and clinics, as we take blood pressures, assist with triage, educate families, and learn from experienced medical teams. When people see us in uniform, they will see a team made possible by your kindness.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our mission and in us as young future healthcare professionals. We have been utilizing the supplies so much which would not have been possible without your support. One of the supplies we received was a box of pots of play dough. We used the play dough to recreate each of the Canterbury Tales through stop motion animation. The students enjoyed this project and did some really impressive work. \r\n\r\nI have also used a lot of the cardstock to create manipulatives for various lessons. For example, we will soon be studying Shakespeare and I found an activity for my students where they will have a picture of the Bard and a picture of Taylor Swift. They will hear a single line and have to determine which person is responsible for that line. To indicate their answer, students will hold up a picture of their guess. I printed the two pictures on the new cardstock and then protected them using the sheet protectors that were also in this order. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, your generosity has provided many rewards for my perpetually hungry students. I ordered cereal bars and small snack items and give students opportunities to earn these treasures. It's amazing how much such a simple thing inspires teens. \r\n\r\nEverything that you helped us to purchase will go to good use. I have also shared some resources with my equally under-supplied coworkers for their students and classrooms.
