The games have provided an opportunity for the students to strengthen their executive functioning skills and confidence. So far the most popular games are iTrax, Otrio and Blurt! There have been multiple times when the entire class is crowded around one group to see who will be the next champion! \r\n\r\nWhen the games started coming in, they were intrigued by the boxes and wanted to help open them. Many of the games were labeled learning resources. This label turned them off! Little did they know the fun and excitement that awaited them. I gave each group a set of games to \"test\" out and report back to the class. This certainly sparked their interest and by the time we gathered back together they were spouting off a slew of skills needed to be the champion of each one. \"I actually had to slow my brain down to beat Noah.\" \"When I realized that I needed to organize my pieces ahead of time, I was able to make a comeback.\" These were just a few statements made after our \"game testing\" session. \r\n\r\nAs my students continue to enhance their executive functioning skills, they will begin to teach younger students throughout the school how to \"slow their brain\" and \"organize their pieces\" to be the champion. The big win for me will be when I see the students transferring these skills throughout our transitions in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1731539806833,"projectUrl":"project/unlock-the-power-of-your-executive-funct/8491698/","projectTitle":"Unlock the Power of Your Executive Functioning Skills!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Warren","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8067594_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1631760160769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-warrenhes"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3183","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":437,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":18,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.0,"schoolId":3183,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hillsborough Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hillsborough Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/orange-county-school-district/hillsborough-elementary-school/3183"}
