They absolutely LOVE them! When they saw that we added more to our class inventory, they were all smiles and excitement! My Exceptional Needs (EC) students really enjoy playing them as well as my kindergarten through fifth grade students. \r\nAt the end of last year, my EC students were primarily using these drums for just about every lesson. They are easy for them to hold and play rhythms and they are very colorful, which they love! We finally enough for the entire EC class to use at the same time, where before we were having to take turns (which is a difficult concept for this particular class). They use these drums to play the steady beat and to perform rhythms with songs that we have learned. \r\nMy kindergarten through fifth grade students used them for a variety of activities. My older students did several activities where they rotated around the room and play many different instruments for the activity, including the lollipop drums. They were also used for sound stories with my younger students. I asked for these instruments with my Exceptional Needs students (EC) in mind and also ended up using them with my kindergarten students. My EC students enjoyed using them as the bells also have rainbow ribbons attached to them. The EC student loved watching the colors and shaking the bells to the music and also being able to move around the classroom while using the bells. It was the first instrument I pulled out for them this year and they were so excited as they remembered having so much fun using them last year. These students mainly used them to keep the steady beat with the music and locomotor movement activities that could incorporate the bells/ribbons. \r\nOnce I saw how excited my EC students were when using these instruments, I knew I needed to use them with my kindergarten classes! We had an activity where the students stood and sang and then moved how the music instructed them to move. These particular instruments worked perfectly with the song and the kids had the best time using them! I will continue to use these instruments with both my EC students and my kindergarten classes this year. We are so thankful for this new instrument! In fact, the original one that I asked for was out of stock so I ended up having to get a different soprano xylophone (same brand) that was a little less expensive. This allowed me to also get another set of maracas and castanets (seen in the pictures). Having another soprano xylophone has helped out tremendously. It has allowed for more students to have their own instrument when using the barred instruments in class. It has been very helpful in my larger classes to have another xylophone. Just one extra instrument can allow for so much more time on task for students. None of my classes now have to have three to a xylophone and it is because of your generosity! \r\nMy students were so excited when they saw we had a new xylophone! It came at the perfect time because third and fourth grade students were beginning to prepare for a holiday concert in December. One of our songs included a xylophone accompaniment and I was able to pick one more student to showcase their talents at the performance since we had another xylophone to use. \r\nAs the year goes on, we will continue to use this xylophone for accompanying songs, creating music, improving, and sound stories. My younger students (kindergarten and first grade) will begin using the xylophones soon as they haven't had a chance to do so this school year. It will be nice for every one of those students to have their own instrument to play! The kids in my EC classes have been so excited to see all of the new items for our lessons. They especially love the parachute. We've had such a blast using it. Some of the kids like to sit under the parachute while others like to shake the parachute to the steady beat and gather the soft balls that we bounce in the middle. There were shrieks of delight the first time we used the parachute. It has brought so much joy to these kids. \r\nWe've used the lollipop drums quite a bit since receiving them. The kids really like them and are easier for some to hold which is great! We use them to echo patterns and play the steady beat with the music.\r\nThe ribbon wands are used every week with my students. We spend the last 10 minutes of their 45 minute class moving to the music with the wands. They absolutely love them and were so excited to she the new colors/patterns. \r\nThe only thing I have not used yet are the two person parachutes. I plan to use them in the spring. I showed their teachers and assistants and they agreed that the kids would love using them. Thank you so much for your generosity.
