A lot of my scholars believed building Legos were just the simple tasks of putting blocks together to create a structure. With the Lego Essentials Spike Kit, my scholars learned that they can create structures and code those structures to move. They learned that coding specific blocks makes the motor turn and allow the light to turn on while also choosing the color of the light. Connecting the various Legos and coding the blocks and hearing, Oooooohhh it's moving!, was probably the highlight for myself. \r\n\r\nMy scholars were ecstatic when we had received the Lego Essentials Spike Kit. I created a time where scholars could take their lunch break and come and build Legos in my classroom with a friend. We would discuss how things are going with their social, emotional, and academic progress. Some students have begun to look forward to Legos & Lunch. I would like to continue to build my scholar's knowledge of building complex structures and coding them to move. And work our way up to create a short film with a storyline written by my students.","fullyFundedDate":1762201702462,"projectUrl":"project/rooted-in-rise/9597499/","projectTitle":"Rooted in Rise","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. White","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10177987"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108871","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":482,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":71,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"24.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.3,"schoolId":108871,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rise Southeast Raleigh Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rise Southeast Raleigh Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/north-carolina-department-of-education/pave-se-raleigh-charter-school/108871"}
