Your donation of books and bookshelves has created something truly special for my students. You have helped me build a dedicated space where my gifted/AIG students and my intervention (\"bubble\") students can explore new books, challenge themselves as readers, and develop a genuine love of reading.\r\n\r\nMy intervention groups have already been able to take their learning to a new level by engaging with texts that are different from what they typically encounter in the classroom. Having access to a variety of books has allowed me to choose texts that meet students where they are while also encouraging them to stretch their reading abilities. Even more importantly, reading together has given me opportunities to build stronger relationships with my students. We are able to share our thoughts, make connections to the stories, and talk about characters and experiences in ways that go beyond simply answering comprehension questions.\r\n\r\nThe bookshelves have also made a huge difference. Instead of books being stored away or scattered throughout the classroom, students now have a dedicated place where they can see the books available to them and choose something that interests them. There is something incredibly exciting about a student discovering a book and saying, \"Can I read this one?\" That excitement is exactly what I hope to cultivate.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity will continue to grow. This month, I am opening Novel Studies to our AIG students. Each grade level will read a different novel and then participate in a school-wide project connecting the story to a theme, issue, or passion from the book. Our AIG students are excited to think deeply, collaborate, and bring their learning to life!\r\n\r\nYour donation has given my students more than books and shelves. You have given them a place to explore, choose, question, imagine, and grow. You are helping create a classroom where students can see themselves as readers and where reading becomes something to look forward to. Your support is truly appreciated and is already making a positive difference in our students' learning experience.\r\n\r\nThese calculators allow students to display multiple lines of work, revisit their problem-solving steps, and more easily identify where mistakes may have occurred. This helps them build stronger problem-solving skills and confidence when tackling multistep math questions. While these tools are incredibly helpful, they are not replacing our learning—they are supporting it. We use the calculators during our calculator-active units to enhance understanding and make complex problems more approachable.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the calculators, our classroom continues to rely heavily on whiteboards and markers. We use them at least three times a week so students can write out their thinking, show their work, and actively demonstrate their understanding. Whiteboards never go out of style in our classroom—they keep students engaged, encourage participation, and make learning more interactive and fun.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps create a classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn. This year, I was tasked with teaching 3 sections of STEM class, which is great, but there was one essential component missing from the task. What was that you asked? It was STEM supplies. We had STEM in the past, so a few items remained that were usable, but they were very few. Some were broken, and many had missing parts. We simply lacked the necessary resources to begin a class. I know it doesn't take a lot of 'stuff' to teach a STEM class, but it takes a lot of creativity. \r\nChildren these days need to be able to touch what they are learning about, as we adults do. Yes, they can create on the computer, with other objects like paper, tape, glue, styrofoam, and other items that are just lying around. Still, there is nothing like objects that are intentionally prepared for them to use to expand their already creative minds and to get them exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! So with the donations of the 3D printer with filament, the solar robots, Artie Max robots, the small Lego kits, the STEM kits, and the much-needed multiport charging station, our students can now experience STEM in action, right at their fingertips.
