My students are using them during individual and small-group activities to practice communication, self-regulation, following directions, and participating in learning. The materials give students hands-on ways to express their needs, make choices, and practice calming strategies when they become frustrated or overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious. They immediately wanted to touch, explore, and try the different tools. I especially enjoyed seeing students who sometimes have difficulty staying engaged become more interested and willing to participate.\r\n\r\nOne meaningful classroom moment was watching a student use a calming tool during a difficult activity instead of becoming upset. With support, the student was able to calm down, communicate what was needed, and return to the activity. These small successes are important steps toward greater independence.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using the resources during daily reading, math, communication, and SEL activities. We will continue practicing how to identify emotions, use calming strategies, communicate needs, and return to learning. They are more willing to participate when lessons include interactive activities that match their individual learning needs. The technology also allows me to provide differentiated instruction and practice skills such as letter and number recognition, phonics, reading, math, communication, and classroom routines.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students have especially enjoyed using the device during individual and small-group instruction.
