My students were incredibly excited when they first saw the new materials. There were lots of smiles and immediate questions about when they would get to use them. Many of my students do not always have access to art supplies at home, so having high-quality materials in the classroom made them feel special and motivated. It created a sense of excitement around learning, and they were eager to start creating right away.\r\n One of the most meaningful projects that we have completed with the materials was connected to our read-aloud of The Keeping Quilt. After reading the story, students created their own \"quilt squares\" using the paint to represent something important about their own families or traditions. They thoughtfully planned their designs and used color and symbols to tell their stories. We are currently in the process of combining all of the squares into one large class quilt. \r\n Moving forward, my students will continue to use these materials to support both literacy and cross-curricular projects. I also plan to incorporate more student choice in how they show their learning, allowing them to use paint and markers to express their thinking in creative ways. These resources will continue to support engagement, creativity, and deeper connections to the content.
