With the HP laptop, Bluetooth mice, headphones, embroidery thread, needles, stabilizer, and Poly-Fil you provided, my students now have the tools they need to turn digital ideas into tangible works of textile art.\r\nMy students are authentically individual—each one bringing a unique perspective, learning style, and creative spark. They thrive when they can see the real-world results of their hard work, and this project has given them exactly that opportunity. With our new design station, students are now able to create and manipulate embroidery files using CAD-style software, exploring how geometry, scaling, and digital coordinates translate into physical stitches. The Bluetooth mice have been especially impactful, allowing students to make the precise adjustments that computer-aided design requires, something that was nearly impossible with a trackpad.\r\nThese tools have opened the door for students to experience sewing as a STEM discipline. They are learning how technology drives modern design, how engineering principles shape fabric construction, and how digital problem-solving leads to artistic innovation. For many of them, this is the first time they have seen themselves as both artists and engineers—and the pride they feel when their digital visions become stitched reality is unmistakable.\r\nThe refreshed embroidery supplies ensure that every student can participate fully, experiment boldly, and create without limitation. Your support has shown them that their individuality has a place in the world of STEM, and that their ideas are worth investing in.","fullyFundedDate":1769447283319,"projectUrl":"project/sewing-stem-promises-design/10042700/","projectTitle":"Sewing STEM Promises & Design","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neely","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7634981_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x375,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767886523616","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7634981"},{"teacherId":7634981,"projectId":9936309,"letterContent":"(Kinston High School – Sewing Designs Club)\r\nThanks to your generosity, the Sewing Designs Club at Kinston High School has been transformed into a vibrant, hands-on learning space where creativity, culture, and technology come together. Your support provided our students with a Brother Embroidery Sewing Machine, 80 spools of embroidery thread, bobbins, and additional machine hoops—resources that immediately expanded what our club could imagine and create. donorschoose.org\r\nOur students meet three times a week, and for many, this is their first experience with sewing of any kind. With the new equipment, they have been able to explore everything from basic hand stitching to operating a computerized embroidery machine. They are learning how to use the design software that accompanies the machine, applying concepts from geometry, engineering, and digital literacy as they digitize their own artwork and bring it to life through thread. donorschoose.org\r\nBeyond the technical skills, students are also discovering the deep history of embroidery as an ancient textile art form. They've been fascinated to learn how patterns, symbols, and stitching techniques have been used across cultures for thousands of years. Connecting this heritage to modern tools has helped them appreciate both the tradition and the innovation behind textile arts.\r\nThe impact is already visible in our classroom. Students who once doubted their artistic abilities are now confidently threading machines, troubleshooting stitching issues, and proudly showing off their embroidered designs. The photos we've taken show students fully engaged—leaning over machines, collaborating on patterns, and celebrating each other's progress. Their works-in-progress reflect not only skill development but also personal expression and pride.\r\nYour gift has given our students access to a world of creative possibility they would not have had otherwise. It has empowered them to see themselves as designers, makers, and problem-solvers. Most importantly, it has shown them that their ideas are worth investing in.\r\nThank you for believing in our students and helping them bring their modern designs to life through an ancient art form.","fullyFundedDate":1765384997500,"projectUrl":"project/modern-designs-on-ancient-textile-art-fo/9936309/","projectTitle":"Modern Designs on Ancient Textile Art Form","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neely","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7634981_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x375,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767886523616","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7634981"},{"teacherId":1991523,"projectId":9400601,"letterContent":"My kids just love the rugs and bean bags as well as the floor chairs. They run to class everyday because it is first come first serve. This is nice to see. They love when I turn off the overhead lights and they get an ambience that they feel calm and comforted by. I am pleased to say, this makes my heart happy. Sometimes they try and put more than one person on a bean bag just so they can all gather together. Teens. You think they are grown and then you realize they are not. They are just larger versions of little ones. They have needs and issues like all of us and having a space that feels comfy and safe in a school is nice to have. Kids learn better when they are comfortable. I have never been this late before. However, the impact that travel has given the kids you helped is immeasurable. The growth can not be quantified, it just happens in small ways. You see it in the independent and confident looks they have when faced with a challenge. Students taking trips is one of the highlights for me. They never think they are going to \"grow\" and learn anything they don't already know, and yet, they do. They always make me smile and laugh while nodding my head as I watch them navigate the unknown and conquer it: all unknowlingly. I have watched kids try out new languages, food, experiences, and museums. The impact of travel will last them their whole life. \r\nThank you again and again. \r\nTruly.
