Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment. Having a reliable supply of pencils and erasers in our class colors has removed those little interruptions that can take away from learning time. Instead of searching for supplies or worrying about being unprepared, students are able to quickly get to work and stay focused on the tasks in front of them. When the materials arrived, students immediately noticed the class colors and were excited that we had supplies that felt like they belonged specifically to our classroom community.\r\n\r\nThe thank-you cards have created one of my favorite moments so far. Students were genuinely excited to begin writing messages of appreciation to the people who invest in them and support their learning. Watching them carefully think through their words and discuss ways to express gratitude reminded me how important it is to intentionally create opportunities for kindness and appreciation. Their reactions showed that these resources are more than classroom materials—they are tools that help build community and character.\r\n\r\nAs we continue moving through our learning this year, students will keep using these supplies during daily lessons, projects, and classroom activities. They will also continue using the thank-you cards to recognize guest speakers, school staff, and community members who positively impact their lives. Thank you for helping create a classroom where students not only have the tools they need to learn, but also opportunities to grow into thoughtful and grateful individuals.\r\n\r\nYour donation came just in time for us to write thank you notes to some community groups who have recently taken time to educate our students on topics such as financial literacy, the Holocaust, and veteran sacrifice and service.","fullyFundedDate":1778130926304,"projectUrl":"project/ready-to-learn-ready-to-thank/10270682/","projectTitle":"Ready to Learn, Ready to Thank","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hartsell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9684298"},{"teacherId":8655044,"projectId":10114399,"letterContent":"We are using the paper towels, Glade scented warmers, and pencils every single day in our classroom. The pencils ensure that every student is prepared to participate fully—whether they are taking notes, completing CER responses, or collaborating on group activities—without the stress of not having basic supplies. The scented warmers have helped create a calm, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable and focused, especially during longer class periods.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and grateful. Several students immediately commented on how the classroom smelled \"clean\" and \"relaxing,\" while others were relieved to know they would always have pencils available when they needed them.\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps include expanding hands-on labs and interactive notebook work. As a young first year teacher, I don't have the financial means to support my students as much as I would like so your donation means the world to me. Teaching sixth graders, I have learned that anything hands-on will help them be engaged in the topic of conversation while also learning the topic correctly. We are fixing to begin our Unit on Geometry which is perfect timing for your donation to get my project supported!\r\n\r\nWith the manipulatives provided, I will be able to engage students in the topic of geometry by giving them visual ideas on different shapes we will discuss. Our main topic of conversation for our donations will be Surface Area and Volume so students can visualize the 3-dimensional shape and understand the difference between these two concepts. Many students struggle with the idea of surface area only covering the surface where as volume discusses how much it holds. With the manipulatives given, I will be able to wrap the different shapes to demonstrate surface area and fill the shapes with water to represent volume. This will help students understand how the formulas connect to each topic so they are truly grasping the knowledge, not just memorizing. \r\n\r\nAgain, I can't thank you enough for supporting my students. They are my whole world and I want to provide them opportunities that they can use for many years to come. The bulletin board décor and positive messages immediately caught their attention and motivated them to do their best work.\r\nNext, we plan to use these materials for lessons on cells and ecosystems. This technology allows me to create durable, reusable learning materials that support hands-on, interactive learning. Laminated task cards, diagrams, and review activities can be written on and erased, giving students more opportunities to practice, revise their thinking, and build confidence without fear of making permanent mistakes.\r\nStudents are especially excited about how interactive these materials are. Using dry-erase markers makes lessons feel more engaging and less like traditional worksheets. Many students are more willing to take academic risks, collaborate with peers, and stay actively involved in their learning. The durability of laminated materials also helps students feel responsible for and proud of the tools they use in class.\r\nThis resource has been especially helpful for students who benefit from structure, repetition, and visual supports. Laminated reference sheets and step-by-step guides help students work more independently and stay organized. English language learners and students who struggle with confidence have shown increased engagement because they can practice and correct their work easily.\r\nOverall, this project has helped create a more inclusive, flexible learning environment where all students can participate and succeed.
