Students planned how the collection would run, helped set up stations, and are now using the materials to sort, count, and track donations. One special moment occurred when students gathered around the table to count the first round of coins. They carefully organized the change, double-checked totals, and recorded the amounts with pride. In that moment, they realized their leadership was transforming spare change into meaningful support for United Way and for providing books to those in need. The project has become more than a fundraiser, it is a hands-on lesson in responsibility, math, teamwork, and service.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited because they knew it meant their idea was becoming a reality. They immediately began discussing roles, brainstorming ways to encourage participation, and asking when they could start collecting. Looking ahead, students will continue tracking and analyzing donation totals, applying real-world math skills such as calculating sums and making projections. They will also reflect on what they've learned about leadership and community impact. Once the collection ends, students will help determine how the funds will be distributed, allowing them to see the complete cycle of service, from planning and action to meaningful impact in our community.","fullyFundedDate":1770421050997,"projectUrl":"project/turning-loose-change-into-lasting-impact/10071970/","projectTitle":"Turning Loose Change Into Lasting Impact","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Iglesias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp527159_orig.png?crop=618,618,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766000296605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-iglesias"},{"teacherId":527159,"projectId":9890750,"letterContent":"The impact of the Tech on Display: Supporting Our STEM Explorers project on our students has been immediate and meaningful. The addition of a mounted TV display has transformed how instruction happens in our STEM lab. Students can now clearly see step-by-step demonstrations, coding examples, design models, and data analysis in real time. This visual access has increased confidence, reduced frustration, and allowed students to stay engaged throughout complex tasks. Instead of missing critical details, they can follow along, ask thoughtful questions, and apply what they see directly to their own projects.\r\n\r\nBeyond improving instruction, this project has strengthened collaboration and student voice. Learners are now able to project their prototypes, digital designs, and presentations for peer feedback, which has elevated both the quality of their work and their communication skills. Sharing their thinking on a large display fosters pride, accountability, and a growth mindset. This tool has helped create a more interactive, student-centered environment where creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork truly shine—skills that will support their success far beyond the STEM lab.","fullyFundedDate":1764810705637,"projectUrl":"project/tech-on-display-supporting-our-stem-exp/9890750/","projectTitle":"Tech on Display: Supporting Our STEM Explorers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Iglesias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp527159_orig.png?crop=618,618,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766000296605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-iglesias"},{"teacherId":527159,"projectId":9862810,"letterContent":"Many of our donors use technology at home, but in the classroom calculators serve a very intentional purpose. They are not used to replace foundational math skills; instead, they help students move beyond basic computation and focus on deeper thinking. With calculators, students can analyze patterns, solve multi-step problems, interpret data, and check their reasoning in real time. This immediate feedback strengthens understanding and builds confidence. For students who struggle with arithmetic, calculators remove a barrier and allow them to fully engage in higher-level problem solving alongside their peers, creating a more equitable learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is having consistent access to a reliable tool that helps them feel capable and prepared. They love being able to check their answers independently and see confirmation of their hard work right away. I have especially noticed growth in students who previously felt anxious about math; having a calculator in hand reduces stress and gives them the courage to participate more actively. At the same time, naturally curious students are using the technology to experiment with numbers and test different strategies. Overall, the calculators are doing more than supporting math skills—they are building confidence and helping students see themselves as successful learners.","fullyFundedDate":1764810704703,"projectUrl":"project/calculating-a-brighter-future/9862810/","projectTitle":"Calculating a Brighter Future","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Iglesias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp527159_orig.png?crop=618,618,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766000296605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-iglesias"},{"teacherId":527159,"projectId":9859270,"letterContent":"Receiving these calculators is having a meaningful and immediate impact on our students. With access to reliable calculators, students can engage more confidently in math lessons, focusing on critical thinking and problem-solving rather than getting stuck on basic computations. This support helps level the playing field, ensuring that students who may not have resources at home are given the same opportunities to succeed as their peers.\r\n\r\nThese tools are empowering students to tackle multi-step equations, explore more advanced concepts, and participate more actively in class. They are able to check their work, complete assignments more efficiently, and feel more prepared for assessments. Over time, this increased confidence will lead to stronger academic performance, reduced frustration, and a more positive attitude toward math. Most importantly, these calculators are helping students believe in their own abilities—opening doors to future STEM courses and pathways.","fullyFundedDate":1761660187158,"projectUrl":"project/student-tools/9859270/","projectTitle":"Student Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Iglesias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp527159_orig.png?crop=618,618,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766000296605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-iglesias"},{"teacherId":10006984,"projectId":9287743,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for sponsoring my classroom project. My students have loved using the supplies we received, and they have already made a huge impact in our room.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits has been the bean bag chairs. I use them as a reward for students who are working hard, or as a spot for groups to gather during projects. The students are so motivated to earn time in the comfortable seats instead of the hard chairs, and it has become a great incentive for positive behavior and effort. When the students first walked in and saw them, their excitement was priceless—they couldn't wait for their turn to use them!\r\n\r\nI also received fidget items, which have been incredibly helpful for students who need something to keep their hands busy. These students know right where to find them when they come into class, and they return them on their way out. Several have told me that the fidgets help them focus better during lessons.\r\n\r\nFinally, the clipboards have been perfect for projects around the classroom. Whether students are working in groups or moving around the room, the clipboards make it so much easier for them to stay organized and on task.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support. These supplies have made such a difference in my classroom and have created opportunities for both learning and joy.","fullyFundedDate":1746786075137,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-comforts-campaign/9287743/","projectTitle":"Classroom Comforts Campaign","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wittenmyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10006984"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2965","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":552,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":2965,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Iredell Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Iredell Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/iredell-statesville-sch-dist/north-iredell-middle-school/2965"}
