This project has been a great way to get our Battle of the Books team excited about reading again. This is the first time in two years that we have had students interested in participating, and it has been so exciting to see their enthusiasm. They are eager to read the books, learn about the stories, and work together to see how well they can do in competition.\r\n\r\nBattle of the Books gives students a chance to read books they may not normally pick up and discover new authors and genres. As they read, they are building their reading stamina, comprehension, vocabulary, and critical-thinking skills. They are also learning to remember details, talk about what they have read, and challenge themselves.\r\n\r\nThe team experience has been just as important as the reading. Students are encouraging each other, sharing their thoughts about the books, setting goals, and working together when things get difficult. Having a team gives them a reason to keep reading and a group of peers who are excited about books too.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping us bring Battle of the Books back to our school and giving these students something fun and meaningful to be part of.
