Our new alphabet learning locks and number-matching activities provide hands-on ways for students to strengthen their letter recognition, practice identifying numbers, and build early literacy and math skills. These resources make learning exciting while allowing students to explore, problem-solve, and learn at their own pace.\r\n\r\nOur growing classroom library has also given us wonderful new books to enjoy together! Stories like The Magical Yet, Stick and Stone, and Little Blue and Little Yellow create opportunities to discuss friendship, perseverance, feelings, and how we treat others. We use these stories to encourage conversations, build vocabulary, and help our students make connections between books and their own lives. The gift card for educational resources on Teachers Pay Teachers has also allowed me to find additional activities that support our students' individual learning needs.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will build on these experiences by incorporating our new materials into small-group instruction, learning centers, and whole-group lessons. Students will continue practicing early reading and math skills while developing important social-emotional skills such as sharing, cooperation, and problem-solving. We have put these materials to use in many different ways throughout our classroom. Our new animal hand puppets have become a fun addition to our daily songs and learning activities. The alligator puppet helps bring our alligator songs to life, while the monkey puppet adds excitement to our monkey songs. These playful additions encourage our students to participate, sing along, and engage with learning in a hands-on way. We have also added a new book to our classroom library, giving our young learners another opportunity to explore stories and develop a love of reading.\r\n\r\nYour donations have also helped us create a more organized and welcoming learning environment. We are using the labels to organize folders and classroom materials, the dividers to keep our attendance binder organized, and the laminating sheets to protect important learning resources that we use again and again. Our new question-of-the-day display gives students an opportunity to share their thoughts, practice communication skills, and learn from one another. We are also using the zipper pouches to organize take-home reading bags and other classroom materials, helping us keep resources accessible for our students and their families.\r\n\r\nAs we continue throughout the school year, these materials will support our students in building early literacy skills, developing language, practicing classroom routines, and exploring new ideas through play. We look forward to using our puppets for more songs and storytelling, introducing new books during story time, and continuing to create meaningful learning experiences for our students. The kids and I did the request for this during snack time one day... I had bought some books they wanted and they were asking for more and I was explaining that I could only buy so many per year for our class. I wondered if there was a way to get books donated and sort of randomly found Donors Choose and over the course of the next 10 minutes or so, let the kids make a list. I actually made them whittle it down quite a bit because I felt like we were asking too much. If I'd had any idea how quickly my friends and family, along with a few strangers, were going to jump up and chip in I would have let them request every book they wanted!\r\n\r\nThank you for being a part of getting those amazing graphic novels into my classroom. It was very exciting for the kids as they came in and there were waiting lists to read some of the most sought after books. I've definitely seen an uptick in time spent reading by choice, in excitement and joy in reading and sharing of favorite titles among my students.
