We now use it for our morning meetings, reading groups, and community-building activities. My favorite moment so far was when we created a big group circle on the carpet to do affirmations. Every student participated, taking turns to say something kind about a classmate and then something kind about themselves. It was a powerful experience — the room was filled with smiles, laughter, and genuine encouragement. The carpet gave us the space we needed to sit together comfortably and build each other up, reinforcing the sense of belonging that I've been trying to nurture all year.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new carpet, their excitement was unforgettable. They were amazed by how big and soft it was compared to our old one, which could barely fit us all. Many ran to find their new \"spot,\" and one student said, \"It feels like a brand-new classroom!\" Their joy showed how much they value having a space that feels special and made just for them.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we'll continue using this space for more group learning and reflection activities. Our next project is to expand on our affirmation circle by writing short \"kindness notes\" that students can share with classmates throughout the week. The carpet has given us more than just a soft place to sit — it's become a place for connection, growth, and positivity.","fullyFundedDate":1755793204010,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-rug-for-growing-learners/9616936/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Rug for Growing Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kemper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9352467_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755465954947","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-jkemper"},{"teacherId":9490599,"projectId":8264581,"letterContent":"thank you for considering part or all of my project. this will really help to brighten a students day. Our STEM class is now buzzing with innovation! We received a class set of crayons, baking soda, vinegar and more—tools that have completely transformed how my students experience STEM.\r\n\r\nMy students have been extremely excited to come into STEM each week. We have already started using the materials to create such great memories. My students have been able to make a Fizzy Lemon while learning about chemical reactions and Rain in a Cup while learning about weather. They have all been very enthusiastic about learning and some have expressed their joy and deeper understanding of the science curriculum in their classrooms. \r\n\r\nAs soon as the materials arrived, my students dove in with excitement. One student said, \"Ms. Cook are we going to make volcanoes? I really want to make one with the baking soda on the inside!\" Now they are working extremely hard to learn all of the necessary vocabulary to exhibit their knowledge of chemical reactions. \r\n\r\nThis project has sparked a passion for STEM in many students, especially girls and students of color, who often don't see themselves represented in these fields.
