My students are creative, curious, and eager to grow as artists, and these new materials have given them the support and confidence to do just that.\r\n\r\nWhen I told each of my classes that these supplies were funded by **Michael Jordan** and **Jordan Brand**, a rush of excitement filled the room. For many students, this name represents dedication, perseverance, and success. Knowing their classroom was supported in this way made the experience feel special and motivating from the very start.\r\n\r\nStudents now begin every class with at least ten minutes of drawing in their personal sketchbooks. This daily practice is already making a visible difference. Because they have a consistent place to work, students can flip back to their first pages and literally see their growth from day one to now. That sense of progress is powerful. It builds confidence, encourages persistence, and helps students understand that improvement comes from practice, not perfection.\r\n\r\nHaving their own sketchbook has also created a sense of ownership and pride. Students are more willing to try new ideas, refine their skills, and push themselves creatively because they have a space that belongs to them.\r\n\r\nThe composition books provide a structured space for reflection and critical thinking. Students are writing about their artistic choices, analyzing artworks, and responding to prompts and exit tickets in more thoughtful ways. This combination of visual practice and written reflection is strengthening their visual literacy, communication skills, and ability to think deeply about art.\r\n\r\nAs a Title I school, many families are unable to provide basic art materials, so these supplies truly matter. They ensure that every student has the tools needed to participate fully, practice consistently, and grow both artistically and academically.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing these materials and for investing in my students. Your support helps create a classroom where every student has the opportunity to build skills, confidence, and pride in what they create.","fullyFundedDate":1763924151430,"projectUrl":"project/building-artists-daily-drawing-and-crit/9920958/","projectTitle":"Building Artists: Daily Drawing and Critical Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Higgins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9681988_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723904672077","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9681988"},{"teacherId":9681988,"projectId":9500891,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students were able to experience the excitement and challenge of printmaking with professional-quality linoleum blocks and printmaking paper. What began as a new technique quickly became one of the most energizing units of the year.\r\n\r\nStudents approached carving with focus and determination, carefully planning their designs and problem-solving as they worked through challenges. The moment they pulled their first successful print was unforgettable. There were cheers, proud smiles, and immediate requests to make another. That sense of accomplishment was powerful.\r\n\r\nThroughout the process, students developed patience, precision, and resilience. They learned to adapt when lines didn't carve as expected and to refine their designs through multiple prints. These moments strengthened their critical thinking skills and reinforced that growth comes through revision and persistence.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most impactful was the entrepreneurial component. Students created affordable editions of their prints and explored how to market and present their work. Seeing others value and purchase something they designed built confidence in ways that extended far beyond the art room.\r\n\r\nYour support provided more than materials. It created meaningful learning experiences, sparked joy, and gave students the opportunity to see themselves as both artists and young entrepreneurs. The confidence and skills they gained will stay with them long after the ink has dried.","fullyFundedDate":1760743382028,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-printmaking-unlocking-creativi/9500891/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Printmaking: Unlocking Creativity and Entrepreneurial Spirit","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Higgins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9681988_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723904672077","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9681988"},{"teacherId":10361610,"projectId":9924564,"letterContent":"We sincerely thank you for your generous support in funding our projects with dry erase boards and snacks. This hands-on approach has made learning more interactive, enjoyable, and encouraging students to share their ideas more freely.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our students are not only more involved in the activities but also providing valuable feedback that helps us improve. Because of your donation, every student now has their own sketchbook and access to quality drawing materials. The moment these supplies arrived, the room buzzed with excitement — students flipped through their new sketchbooks in disbelief that they each had one to call their own. That moment of joy set the tone for everything that has followed.\r\n\r\nEach day now begins with a sketchbook warm-up, a time when students can freely draw, experiment, and express themselves before diving into larger projects. These sketchbooks have become deeply personal creative journals — places where students can take risks, practice techniques, and watch their own growth unfold page by page. It's remarkable to see how this simple daily routine has transformed their confidence and engagement with art.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your gift reaches far beyond the materials themselves. My students are discovering their own artistic voices and realizing what they're capable of.
