I was still able to afford one wobbles stool with the original funds, and I used the rest to buy a bouncy chair and some exercise bands to place on the front two legs of their chairs. All of these items will help take some of that restless energy that younger students often deal with and channel it into more productive effort.\r\n\r\nYour generosity will be of great effect in the daily lives of my students and I. The new resources have helped us create an inviting and organized reading area where students can comfortably explore books and strengthen their love for reading. They were so excited when they first saw the completed space and could not wait to choose books and begin using it.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been watching students independently visit our classroom library, select books that interest them, and settle into the reading space. The additional organization has made it easier for students to find books, care for our materials, and return everything to its proper place. Their excitement has made reading time even more meaningful in our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will use this space during independent reading, small-group instruction, and literacy activities. They will continue building their reading stamina, exploring more chapter books, and working toward their quarterly reading goals. Your donations allowed our scholars to use art materials and circuit supplies to learn in ways that extended beyond traditional reading and writing. The art supplies gave scholars opportunities to express themselves creatively and bring their ideas to life, while the circuit materials introduced them to STEM concepts through hands-on experimentation. Scholars were able to build, test, make mistakes, problem-solve, and try again—experiences that made learning both meaningful and exciting.\r\n\r\nOur scholars were especially excited to see materials that allowed them to create and experiment rather than simply complete an assignment. The circuits encouraged curiosity as scholars worked to figure out how different components worked together, while the art materials gave them the freedom to design and create. These experiences supported collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence.\r\n\r\nFreedom Schools is about helping scholars see themselves as capable learners who can make a difference in their families, communities, and the world. These pillows were a hit as soon as they were unboxed. The morning bell rings at 7:15, and they quickly taken off desks where they were stored for night (so the floors can be swept) and thrown on the floor. It's a given that pillows will be used on the floor or at seats. \r\n\r\nSecond, thank you for allowing my students to be comfortable. Whether it's a book or a laptop, I love to see my students on the floor, under a table, or simply sitting at their seats. This year started very rough for me as I was trying to recover myself and my teaching support materials from the losses of Hurricane Helene last Spring. \r\n\r\nMy students were counting the days to the arrival of the materials after I was able to make the orders. They were extremely excited and grateful to have their items (especially the headphones ; -)\r\n\r\nThe headphones we received have been used near daily by students as they work and concentrate on their learning. The associated pouches have been extremely helpful in keeping their desks free of cluttering items (headphones, calculators, etc.).\r\n\r\nThe paper you provided us with has kept my students working and practicing their writing skills (which is a very real struggle as technology use becomes a greater part of their required learning). It has also allowed me to continue giving them homework at least 3 days a week since they are not longer allowed to take their computers home with them to work.\r\n\r\nAnd finally, the yellow folders you provided us may not seem like much, but those folders alone have given the students the ability to quickly and easily pull materials from their desks to work because we have used them to keep all their unfinished assignments together neatly.
