Specifically, students use the sheep brains for dissection. This hands-on opportunity allows students to develop an appreciation and understanding of differences between organs and tissues. It provides learning through touch and is much more effective than looking at pictures or diagrams.\r\n\r\nAll students were excited and anticipated dissection. Many were initially disgusted, but after the initial opening of the brain from its packaging, became intrigued. They were eager to understand the tools provided and inquisitive as we continued with the dissection. By the end, students were comfortable and respected the process. \r\n\r\nNext steps for this project is to continue allowing students to participate in other hands-on labs as they explore science in various fashions. Students are encouraged to do further exploration on their own of other body systems. Your donations mean the world to me and our classrooms. Being that we are a small, rural school and Title 1, a large portion of our families are considered low-income. Our school qualifies as for the Community Eligibility Provision program also which means all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of income, because we are a high-poverty school. \r\n\r\nBeing able to afford proper first aid kits for our classrooms that aren't just in a ziploc bag and will last from year to year is huge as we don't have unlimited or expendable funds. Teachers are not having to provide these items out of their own pockets just so they have simple first aid kits available when away from the school. While we are legally limited to what first aid we are allowed to administer ourselves, having these items easily available when off campus can make a world of difference. As most parents know, a bandaid can solve anything. We were able to use them for multiple fields trips this year and each classroom teacher had access to their own kit. So no hunting down another group to locate a bandaid or having to detour and find the aid station wherever they may be at. \r\n\r\nThe period kits have been a massive positive as well. We had parents come in to help stuff the individual bags and passed out many already to young girls who started their period or didn't have supplies with that. They loved the fun stickers and were grateful to have their own bag to hold onto and keep the items inside private. They knew they could come up to see me if they needed these items and knew they would be taken care of. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping to provide the first aid kits and the menstrual kits for our classrooms and students. Just the ease of access has already been extremely helpful this year alone and knowing we have these items available lowers the stress and panic that comes with these types of instances that arise.","fullyFundedDate":1740067627202,"projectUrl":"project/empower-protect-period-first-aid-ki/8869346/","projectTitle":"Empower & Protect: Period & First Aid Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lowe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8055487_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733272710004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sesmrslowe"},{"teacherId":638911,"projectId":9025819,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our upcoming spring art show is going to sparkle! Then the flexatone and cymbals arrived and my students were excited to learn the new sounds of these two instruments, one familiar and one unique.
