From the moment the students saw them, they were instantly curious and excited. They couldn't wait to pose the mannequins, move the joints, and figure out how the body bends and stands. These mannequins quickly became a shared focal point at each table, encouraging collaboration, discussion, and hands-on learning as students worked together to adjust poses and observe details.\r\n\r\nWe are using the mannequins to help students learn about proportion and drawing from observation. Instead of guessing what a body should look like, students are now carefully studying real poses, noticing how long the arms are compared to the legs, how the body balances, and how movement changes the figure. One memorable moment was watching students take turns gently adjusting the mannequin while others sketched, offering suggestions like \"the legs are longer than the arms\" or \"the body leans when the foot moves.\" These tools have helped students slow down, look closely, and gain confidence in their drawing skills.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building on these skills by using the mannequins as references for more detailed figure drawings and creative character designs. They will apply what they've learned about proportion and movement to their own imaginative artwork, combining observation with creativity. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to professional-quality tools that make learning more engaging, collaborative, and meaningful. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to learn like real artists and for supporting creativity in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758636769709,"projectUrl":"project/from-stick-figures-to-real-figures/9710123/","projectTitle":"From Stick Figures to Real Figures!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10077371_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752291777952","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10077371"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1355","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":383,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.1,"schoolId":1355,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eastover - Central Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eastover - Central Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/cumberland-county-schools/eastover-central-elementary-school/1355"}
