Our students have been excited to use the new cooking equipment as they explore cultures through food. One special moment was watching students work together to prepare a traditional dish while learning about the country it came from. Students measured ingredients, followed directions, practiced kitchen safety, and communicated with their classmates throughout the process. For many of our multilingual learners and newcomers, the cooking activities have also created a comfortable and authentic opportunity to practice English by asking questions, learning new vocabulary, and working as part of a team. When students first saw the new materials, they were excited and eager to begin. Many immediately wanted to know what they would be cooking and when they could use the equipment. Their excitement showed us how powerful hands-on experiences can be in creating a sense of belonging and encouraging students to participate.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue our journey around the world through our monthly cooking experiences. Students will learn about new countries, traditions, languages, and foods while preparing dishes together. They will also have opportunities to share recipes and traditions from their own families, allowing students to see that their cultures and experiences are an important part of our school community. As we continue, students will build confidence with cooking, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving while developing a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. Your generosity has helped us create more than a cooking activity, it has created opportunities for students to connect, learn from one another, and discover that learning can happen in joyful and meaningful ways. Having access to these resources has allowed students to engage more fully in hands-on music-making and has helped provide materials that our school and many of our families would not otherwise have been able to afford. Students have been able to use the materials regularly as part of rehearsals, classroom activities, and music-learning experiences, allowing them to spend more time learning and creating music rather than worrying about whether we have the supplies we need.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of having these materials available has been seeing students become more confident and independent musicians. Students are excited when they are able to use new or improved resources, and those resources have helped create a classroom environment where students feel supported and encouraged to challenge themselves. New groups of students continue to use the materials each year, meaning our donors' generosity has reached far beyond the original group of students who received the project.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, my students will continue using these resources as they develop their musical skills, prepare for performances, and participate in new classroom projects. These middle schoolers were able to interview our office staff to gather preference information. This allowed them to act as design professionals working with clients to gain real life experiences in collaboration. \r\n\r\nThese vinyl stickers were applied to walls within the school to increase student and staff confidence. It also helps to unify the school with seeing that our school is a positive place to be with positive affirmations displayed.\r\n\r\nThis project has been inspiring and students have enjoyed having access to the Cricut with vinyl to create beautiful wall stickers.
