It is because of your generosity and thoughtfulness that my students have the necessary materials that are allowing them to focus on their daily work and also have time to play during their free time. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw that all of the chairs and desks in my classroom had tennis balls on them, they were not quite sure what to think. Once I explained the purpose of the tennis balls on the desks and chairs, they understood why I asked for them and agreed that the noise level had decreased significantly compared to the beginning of the year! With the noise level now decreased, I have seen improvement in their focus level on their academics!\r\n\r\nThe recess equipment and fidget toys have been game changers for my students, too! My autistic and ADHD students have been able to focus more in class using the fidget toys! The recess equipment has been well-loved by my class! My students love playing soccer, basketball, jump rope, and kickball with all of the different equipment. They are very excited every day for recess! Thank you again for all of your support! We've added them to our small-group math rotations, which means students now get hands-on practice identifying digit values, building numbers, and strengthening their multiplication fluency. These resources have already made our math block more interactive and collaborative.\r\n\r\nA specific classroom project or moment:\r\nLast week, students worked in pairs to build \"mystery numbers\" using the place value cards. One partner created a number and hid it behind a folder, while the other used clues—like \"the digit in the tens place is 3 times the digit in the ones place\"—to reconstruct it. The room was full of excited whispers, math talk, and that wonderful \"I GOT IT!\" energy. With the multiplication cards, students have started a class-wide \"Fluency Ladder,\" moving up a rung each time they master a set of facts. They've never been so motivated to practice multiplication!\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nThey were thrilled. Several students immediately started flipping through the cards, saying things like, \"These are going to help me so much!\" and \"Can we use these today?\" One student hugged the multiplication set and said it felt like \"math superpowers.\" Their excitement set the tone for the day.\r\n\r\nNext steps for your students:\r\nIn the coming weeks, students will use the place value cards to deepen their understanding of multi-digit numbers and prepare for addition and subtraction with regrouping. The multiplication cards will support daily practice as we move into multi-step word problems and early division concepts. These tools are helping students build a stronger math foundation—and more importantly, confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Your support has already made a meaningful difference in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1755521940469,"projectUrl":"project/mathematician-wishes/9526985/","projectTitle":"Mathematician Wishes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gaither","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6589179_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720486099897","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6589179"},{"teacherId":9937060,"projectId":9146525,"letterContent":"The art materials my students received allowed them to use their creativity and branch out and explore . As an art teacher, it is my goal for students to learn as many new art techniques and create new outlets of creativity while enjoying every moment of it and creating core memories.\r\n\r\nMy students enjoyed working with the clay art, and all other materials that were sent as a new outlet of a way to express themselves. I noticed that the textures fascinated them and it opened an outlet for them to come up with mini ideas. Students were also able to work in small groups to connect with their peers some even use the activity to work as a team and make one piece of art out of air, dry clay.
