My students enjoy quality reading time during reading workshop. They like to take their books and a pillow to a favorite spot around the room and read. During this time they put in their best work to grow their reading stamina and the ability to read to themselves using all the strategies that we, as a whole class, work on daily. Individual reading time is so important in the growth of these young minds. Plastic bags rip often and need to be replaced continuously. If we had these plastic book bins, my students could keep the books that they "shop" for and pick out themselves neat and orderly, never worrying that they've lost a book through a hole in a bag.
