The snacks and drinks have been an absolute hit, but what I love most is that they have created opportunities for meaningful connections with my students.\r\n\r\nStudents stop by throughout the day to grab a snack or drink, and while they're there, we take a few minutes to check their grades, talk about how their classes are going, and celebrate their successes. Sometimes we discuss areas where they need a little extra support or encouragement. What starts as a quick visit for a snack often turns into a meaningful conversation about their progress, goals, and future.\r\n\r\nThe students absolutely love having these resources available, and I love seeing their faces when they stop by! It has become one of my favorite parts of the school day. These little visits help me build relationships with students in a relaxed, positive environment while also keeping them accountable and encouraging them to do their best.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, I hope to continue building these connections, celebrating student achievements, and helping students stay on track academically. Sometimes something as simple as a snack and a friendly conversation can open the door to so much more.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me fuel their bodies, minds, and dreams. Our school's community of Spanish speakers is growing each year and our collection has now grown too! Your generosity has helped us provide books for students to be able to see themselves, their culture, and their language in our school. \r\n\r\nThese books will not just sit on the shelves. We have plans throughout the year to get the books into the hands and homes of our students. We are kicking it off now with a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Battle of the Books is a great confidence booster for high schoolers and gives our students more than access to great reads, it gives them a community.
