Your generosity provided our FCCLA students with the exact resources they needed to put their leadership skills and community service hearts into action.\r\n\r\nHow we are using these resources:\r\nThe \"Beat the Heat\" kits have become the foundation of a student-led community care initiative. Our FCCLA students used the materials to assemble cooling kits designed to support vulnerable populations during dangerous summer temperature spikes. In a standout moment this month, students took ownership of the entire logistical process—working together to organize, bundle, and package the supplies efficiently. Seeing them collaborate to ensure that every single kit was put together with care and purpose truly showed the power of Career and Technical Education in action.\r\n\r\nHow the students reacted:\r\nWhen the boxes arrived and we opened them up, the students were absolutely thrilled! They immediately began laying out the materials and reading through the inventory. There was a palpable sense of excitement in the room because the project was no longer just an abstract idea on paper—it was real. They were incredibly touched that complete strangers would invest in them and their mission to help the local Charlotte community. It gave them a huge boost of confidence.\r\n\r\nOur next steps:\r\nNow that the \"Beat the Heat\" kits are fully assembled, our next steps involve executing our distribution plan. Students are working closely with local shelter liaisons and community partners to get these kits directly into the hands of those who need them most before the peak summer heat sets in. Back in the classroom, students will wrap up this project by creating a reflection presentation, analyzing the community impact, and brainstorming how we can expand this initiative next year.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students didn't just learn about community leadership from a textbook—they actually got to live it. Thank you for believing in our FCCLA program and for investing in the future leaders of Charlotte!\r\n\r\nWith deep gratitude,\r\n\r\nMs. Brown and the FCCLA Students","fullyFundedDate":1772575876534,"projectUrl":"project/fccla-beat-the-heat-kits-for-charlotte/10095059/","projectTitle":"FCCLA \"Beat the Heat\" Kits for Charlotte’s Unhoused","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2796433_orig.jpg?crop=500,500,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659714210951","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jbrown624"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107373","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":312,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":107373,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Charlotte Engineering Early College High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Charlotte Engineering Early College High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/charlotte-mecklenburg-school-district/charlotte-engineering-early-college/107373"}
