Thanks to your donation of the SPIKE Essential LEGO kits, our students have begun an exciting journey through the FIRST LEGO League UNEARTHED challenge this season. These materials are already sparking creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking in ways we hoped for — and then some.\r\nSo far, our students have formed teams, developed their team names, set collective goals, and dove into the world of archaeology. They have been researching real archeologists and exploring dig sites, tools, and artifacts to better understand how discoveries from the past shape our present. These authentic explorations have helped our students connect hands-on learning with technology, engineering, and communication skills.\r\nWhat has been especially powerful is watching students who don't always speak up in class confidently share ideas as they design and build together. The SPIKE Essential kits allow them to test, rebuild, and prototype freely — all essential skills for FIRST LEGO League and beyond.\r\nWe are excited for the next eight weeks of learning as teams continue integrating technology into their builds and preparing for our school-wide STEAM Night in March, where they will proudly showcase their UNEARTHED projects to classmates, families, and our school community.\r\nThank you for making this meaningful learning possible. Your generosity has opened doors for students to explore STEM pathways, discover the joy of problem-solving, and see themselves as innovators and engineers. We are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1760756150511,"projectUrl":"project/first-lego-league-club/9798891/","projectTitle":"First LEGO League Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nurse Traci Hewes Lego Club","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4927520"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3195","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":387,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":22,"percentAsian":32,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":68.4,"schoolId":3195,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Glenwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Glenwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/chapel-hill-carrboro-city-sd/glenwood-elementary-school/3195"}
