When the sensory swing was first introduced, the excitement was immediate—students smiled, reached for it, and eagerly took turns. One student who often struggles during transitions was able to use the swing before moving to a new activity, and for the first time, transitioned without distress and joined the group ready to learn. Moments like that have been incredibly meaningful.\r\n\r\nWe now use the sensory swing throughout the day as part of our routine. Students take short, structured turns to help regulate their bodies, especially during transitions or after challenging tasks. The movement helps them feel calm, focused, and more prepared to participate in lessons and communication activities.\r\n\r\nSince adding this resource, we've seen increased engagement, longer periods of focus, and more positive interactions among students. They are more willing to participate and are showing greater confidence in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building on this success by incorporating the swing into structured learning routines, including communication practice and turn-taking activities. We are also continuing to support students in recognizing when they need a break and using the swing as a tool for self-regulation.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a resource that not only supports their sensory needs but also helps them access learning in a meaningful and successful way.","fullyFundedDate":1776189553973,"projectUrl":"project/swinging-toward-calm-bodies-and-ready-mi/10189917/","projectTitle":"Swinging Toward Calm Bodies and Ready Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9928654_orig.png?crop=822,822,x0,y92&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776278392224","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9928654"},{"teacherId":8382466,"projectId":8354828,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our classroom.
