The excitement began as packages arrived at the school. One student that happens to be minimally verbal in his expression, stated \"What's in box?! What's in box?!\". A rare and heartwarming moment. The learning and enjoyment continued from that day forward. I feel more confident in the effectiveness of the lesson plans. The students are experiencing a more ideal learning environment thanks to the supplies and the giving nature of our donors. For example, when reviewing letter identification and letter sounds, my student could utilize the textured cards purchased through this project. The student demonstrated significant improvement in focus on the content. Another example is utilizing the coping skills supplies. The next steps for the coping supplies is creating a set time each week to expand upon the social/emotional education using the items from donors choose. Teaching third grade is such a special year - its where kids are no longer little but are trying to figure the way into the 'big kid' role. Its a time of learning how to co-exist with people that you may not always agree with, respect differences and learn to work together as a class. Our classroom rug is exactly where this hard work happens. We do a tremendous amount of classroom collaboration on the rug together. Its a place that allows students to sit around, chat, share and work together in a casual way. I want to also thank you for gifting our new chapter books! As I mentioned before Third grade is a special place - we are no longer 'learning to read' but we are shifting these brilliant minds to 'reading to learn'. The chapter books will help spark their love of reading and encourage them to dive deeper into what books offer!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and choosing to pour into my students! They immediately began using them improving focus during morning meeting. The chairs also provide a choice for my students decreasing frustration and anxiety during task. Highlighting that students can choose the seat that fits their body's needs at that moment. The new soft seating has completely changed our classroom culture and our kids love them!
